-- McClatchy (NYSE: MNI) today named Kelly Mirt as publisher and vice president of
advertising for The Wichita Eagle. He will assume his
new role July 31. Mirt replaces Roy
Heatherly, who retired in May. Mirt previously served
as the vice president of advertising for The Charlotte
Observer, also owned by McClatchy.

Mirt has spent 35 years in the industry in a variety of sales
executive and leadership roles. In 2002, he built an
extremely successful and specialized sales department for the
Dallas Morning News from the ground up. Mirt joined the
Tampa Tribune-WFLA TV in 2006 as vice president of digital
advertising and led them to national prominence within the Yahoo
and Zillow consortium. Prior to rejoining McClatchy in 2012,
Mirt was the director of operations at GrowthWeaver, a marketing
solutions company. His first job was an advertising
representative at the Eagle.

This is a homecoming for Mirt. He grew up in Wellington and graduated from the University of Kansas with a Bachelor's Degree in
Personnel Administration. He and his wife Lisa have three
sons, a daughter and one granddaughter.
