DENVER, May 18, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- At
AT&T1, we've invested more than $575 million in our Colorado wireless networks during 2014-2016.
These investments drive a wide range of upgrades to reliability,
coverage, speed and overall performance for residents and
businesses. They also improve critical services that support public
safety and first responders.
In 2016, AT&T made 683 wireless network upgrades in
Colorado. We added new cell sites,
boosted network capacity and expanded our LTE coverage
footprint.
"We're investing to provide faster, more reliable, highly secure
connectivity. We want customers to have internet access at any
moment, from almost any device—anywhere," said Roberta Robinette, president, AT&T-Colorado.
"These continued investments bring Colorado residents and businesses a host of
new opportunities."
The AT&T LTE network covers nearly 400 million people in
North America. Notable
Colorado network enhancements in
2016 included:
- Launched antenna systems to boost mobile internet coverage at
Denver International Airport's
Westin Hotel and Transit Center, Cherry Creek Mall, Dick's Sporting
Goods Park and Winter Park Ski Resort;
- Upgraded LTE network capacity at Coors Field, Pepsi Center and
Sports Authority Field;
- Added LTE network capacity in Denver, Ft Collins, Boulder, Westminster, Colorado Springs, Peterson AFB, Breckenridge, Steamboat Springs and Vail;
- Added or expanded LTE service for Clear Creek Canyon, Ft.
Carson, Ft. Collins, Sterling, Buena Vista and Vail Back
Bowls.
The First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet) recently chose
AT&T to build a nationwide public safety broadband network. The
network will be dedicated to America's police, firefighters, EMS
personnel and other first responders when they need it. Should
Colorado opt-in to the FirstNet network, we will build upon
our current and planned investments with a dedicated focus on the
state's first responders.
And we would expect to make a significant investment to upgrade
and maintain Colorado's FirstNet
network over the next 25 years, bringing your first responders the
coverage, value and experience they expect.
