Christine Lagarde: Recovery uncertain amid growing coronavirus infections
European Central Bank (ECB) President, Christine Lagarde, in her latest speech, stated that the Europe’s economic recovery is uncertain and risks “running out of steam” amid a second wave of Covid-19 infections. She indicated that the second wave of the epidemic in the Euro area, particularly in France, and the new restrictive measures add to uncertainty and weigh on the recovery.
Euro-zone construction output rose in August
In the Euro-zone, seasonally adjusted construction output recorded a rise of 2.60% on a MoM basis in August, compared to a revised rise of 0.30% in the previous month.
US housing market index unexpectedly rose in October
In the US, the housing market index registered an unexpected rise to a level of 85.00 in October, compared to a level of 83.00 in the prior month. Markets were anticipating the housing market index to record a steady reading of 83.00.
Chinese house price index climbed in September
In China, the house price index registered a rise of 4.60% on a YoY basis in September, compared to a rise of 4.80% in the prior month.
