Shell Oil Co. has chosen a site near Pittsburgh for a
petrochemical refinery which will convert natural gas liquids into
other chemicals, the Associated Press reported Thursday, citing a
company official.
Don Carlson, general manager of new business development for
Shell, said the company is considering a site near Monaca, Pa.,
some 35 miles northwest of Pittsburgh, for the facility. The
company had said it would spend billions of dollars to build the
plant, with construction years away. The site under consideration
is home to Horsehead Holding Corp.'s (ZINC) zinc factory.
