The biggest gainer this week on the Stoxx Europe 50 was Paris-listed Schneider Electric, which on Thursday said that it sold its Converse Energy Projects to Vinci Energies. It was followed by chip maker ASML Holding.

London-listed miner Glencore was the biggest loser on the European index, with shares down 9.7% over the course of the week. The company was hit by a bribery investigation by the U.K.'s Serious Fraud Office. According to a source, the agency is looking at the company's activities in the Democratic Republic of Congo and its relationship with Israeli diamond merchant Dan Gertler.
