--The British public wants the government to support the high
street's recovery, Primark Chief Executive Paul Merchant tells the
Times of London, citing a study by consultancy Public First
commissioned by the fashion retailer.
--Consumers are "desperate to see their towns and high streets
thrive again," according to the report.
--The study suggests measures such as a relaxation of Sunday
trading laws, a VAT break and extended business rates relief to
help British retailers navigate the coronavirus pandemic.
