Vinci SA said Tuesday that Vinci Energies won a contract to renovate and operate the civic center of the German town of Velbert in North Rhine-Westphalia.

The French construction-and-infrastructure company said the first phase of the project includes transforming the Buergerforum Niederberg's building into a modern and multipurpose venue. The work has a total value of 44 million euros ($49.5 million). It will begin in the fall of 2020 and is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2023.

After two years of work, Vinci said the partnership will continue through an operating contract until 2048. The second phase includes providing concierge services, upkeep, maintenance, reinvestment and energy provision, and is worth a total of EUR32 million, it said.
