Enbridge Inc. reported higher earnings in the fourth quarter.

The energy-infrastructure company reported earnings per common share of 88 Canadian cents, up from C$0.37 a year earlier.

Earnings attributable to common shareholders in the quarter came to C$1.8 billion (US$1.4 billion), up from C$746 million a year earlier, the company said

Adjusted earnings per share was C$0.56, below a FactSet consensus for C$0.60.

Distributable cash flow was C$2.2 billion, up from C$2.1 billion a year earlier, it said.

"Despite positive indicators early in 2021, the pace of recovery is still unknown as Covid-19 cases remain high in many parts of the world. We will continue to be focused on our critical role in delivering reliable energy, as well as on the safety of our employees and our stakeholders," said Chief Executive Al Monaco.
