Walt Disney Co.'s streaming service Disney+ has more than 50 million paid subscribers, boosted by continued expansion in Western Europe and India.

Shares rose 7% to $108.24 in after-hours trading.

The service, which launched five months ago, rolled out in recent weeks in eight European countries, including the U.K., France and Spain. In India, where the service launched about a week ago as part of streaming service Hotstar, it has about eight million subscribers.
