Total SA said Thursday that it would build a battery-based energy storage project in northern France.

The French energy company said the storage system, which will be built in Dunkirk's port district and have a capacity of 25 megawatt hours, would be used to support the stability of the French power grid.

The project represents an investment of around 15 million euros ($17 million)and is scheduled for late 2020, Total added.
