Total SA (FP.FR) said Wednesday that its subsidiary Total Quadran has begun operating a solar-power plant with energy storage in New Caledonia.

The plant, which is equipped with more than 58,000 solar panels, has an installed capacity of roughly 16 megawatts peak and will feature a lithium-ion energy storage system with a capacity of nearly 10 megawatts, Total said.

Helio Boulouparis 2 is the second plant at an extensive solar park in the region, according to the French energy giant. The first was put into action in 2017.
