Telefonica SA (TEF.MC) said Wednesday that it will likely receive a tax refund for overpayments made between 2008 and 2011, after a Spanish court gave a preliminary decision on the matter.

The Spanish telecoms company said claims that it filed against assessments of a 2008 to 2011 corporate income-tax audit have been partially upheld by the country's Central Administrative Economic Court in a preliminary ruling.

The final amount that Telefonica is entitled to receive as a refund--including overpaid taxes and late-payment interest--will be determined once tax authorities issue a final resolution, Telefonica said.
