Oilfield services company Schlumberger Ltd. (SLB) amended its by-laws to remove a provision requiring each quorum of the company's board have a majority of non-U.S. citizens.

The company on Monday said the amended by-laws were adopted by the board of directors on July 17 and became effective immediately.
