Phillips 66 (PSX) reported the start of three-weeks of scheduled maintenance on equipment related to a gasoline-making fluid catalytic cracking unit at its refinery in Borger, Texas.
The refinery said in a statement to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality that the maintenance work was for "Unit 40 FCCU Electrostatic Precipitator (ESP)." The ESP helps to remove particulate matter in an FCCU.
"During maintenance there may be high opacity and particulates released from the stack," it said, adding the FCCU itself "is not scheduled to go down."
The refinery said the maintenance began Wednesday and could last through Aug. 29.
The 146,000-barrel-a-day refinery is located in the Texas panhandle, northeast of Amarillo.
