Palantir Technologies Inc. shares rose about 10% in premarket trading after the company struck a partnership with International Business Machines Corp. to build a product that helps businesses analyze vast amounts of data, involving IBM's hybrid cloud-data platform and Palantir's operations platform.

The companies on Monday said they plan for the new product, Palantir for IBM Cloud Pak for Data, to be available in March.

Palantir is adopting IBM's Red Hat OpenShift, the hybrid-cloud platform, as part of the partnership, effective Monday, it said.

IBM shares rose 0.95% in premarket trading.
