FOCUS 2010--McAfee, Inc. (NYSE:MFE) today announced
McAfee Connected, a new technology partner program aimed at helping
partners worldwide ensure product and service compatibility with
McAfee-based solutions. The program’s testing process ensures that
the third-party hardware, software and services that customers
choose perform well, and are compatible with, McAfee technology.
Customers can enjoy reduced testing costs, simplified purchase
cycles, and increased solution confidence as a result of this new
test process and program.
Today’s program announcement reinforces the McAfee Security
Connected strategy, enabling partners, developers and customers to
apply a more intelligent, effective and sustainable approach to
securing digital information. Enterprise customers buy products
that they know will interoperate with their existing IT
infrastructures. McAfee Connected establishes an ecosystem of
compatibility-tested partner products that extend the value of
customers’ McAfee-based solutions. It allows independent software
vendors and service providers to self-certify their products,
solutions, and services as compatible with McAfee technology and
provides assurance to customers that enterprise solutions have been
tested for compatibility.
“Choosing hardware and software is a process fraught with
difficult decisions that can have very expensive consequences,”
said Gerhard Watzinger, executive vice president of corporate
strategy for McAfee. “When customers and prospects see that
solutions are part of McAfee Connected, they’re able to quickly and
easily choose technology that is proven to enhance their
McAfee-based deployments. This program, which reinforces McAfee’s
connected security model, can save customers time and money, and
allows for additional confidence as it relates to purchasing
decisions.”While the program has been rolled out globally, the
initial focus of McAfee Connected is security management in virtual
environments. In the coming months McAfee will add other
McAfee-based security solutions to the program. McAfee is inviting
independent software vendors, developer organizations, and
professional and managed services organizations to apply for
partnership in McAfee Connected. This program is designed to
support partners with a set of clearly defined processes, tools,
and co-branding opportunities. For more information about McAfee

“Comprehensive endpoint protection is a requirement for all
enterprises. However, in a virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI)
deployment, traditional anti-virus reduces the number of desktops
per server, degrades performance and ultimately increases the
network, storage and server infrastructure costs,” said Bernard
Harguindeguy, CEO of Atlantis Computing. “Atlantis Computing is
joining the McAfee Connected program to ensure compatibility with
MOVE AV. To help customers deploy VDI at a lower cost per desktop,
with greater density and without compromising performance, Atlantis
ILIO has integrated with MOVE AV to optimize how VDI desktops
running AV interact with storage.”
“AppSense user virtualization solutions provide a seamless user
experience across multiple desktop and application delivery
platforms,” said David Roussain, VP business development at
AppSense. “AppSense is pleased to join the McAfee Connected program
to provide pre-tested user-layer security for both physical and
virtual desktops, ensuring users receive a secure, personal and
seamless working experience across an increasingly mobile,
multi-platform desktop user environment.”
“Virtualization is revolutionizing the data center, introducing
significant changes to enterprise security and compliance,” said
Tamar Newberger, vice president of marketing at Catbird. “As the
only virtualization security tool certified on ePO today, we are
pleased to build on our joint success with additional
interoperability with McAfee. The McAfee Connected program allows
us to validate performance and compatibility between Catbird and
McAfee technology to extend customer protection so that we are
better able to secure virtual environments.”
“Virtualization goes far beyond just consolidating servers. It’s
also about powering the cloud, enabling online collaboration from
anywhere, and taking desktop computing to an entirely new level.
Our participation in the McAfee Connected Partner Program helps
Citrix deliver increased value to our customers by ensuring McAfee
MOVE AV 1.5 and Citrix virtualization solutions perform well
together,” said Garry Olah, vice president of business development
at Citrix. “Citrix virtualization, networking and cloud
technologies radically simplify computing for millions of users, to
deliver IT as an on-demand service that enables virtual work styles
for users and increased business agility for IT.”
"Cloud.com’s CloudStack enables enterprises and service
providers to quickly architect, configure and deploy
highly-reliable, highly-scalable and cost-effective cloud
environments that operate in a far more flexible and cost-efficient
way than traditional datacenter computing," said Peder Ulander,
Chief Marketing Officer at Cloud.com. "Cloud security and data
integrity are top of mind for CIOs, limiting the broad adoption of
cloud computing in the enterprise. Through our engagement with the
McAfee Connected program, CIOs will have increased confidence that
their existing security programs and policies will be extended to
the cloud by using our "McAfee Validated" cloud computing
platform.”
