Harris Corporation Selected by Two Industry Teams to Provide Communications Expertise for U.S. Air Force NETCENTS Program MELBOURNE, Fla., Nov. 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS) today announced that it has been selected to provide systems integration, network development and communications technology expertise as a member of two different business teams working on the U.S. Air Force's $9 billion Network Centric Solutions (NETCENTS) program. For Harris, the NETCENTS program represents a five-year indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract opportunity assisting both teams with the standardization of communications network solutions for the Air Force and other government agencies. NETCENTS gives the Air Force a single program to buy net-centric information technologies, networking equipment and services, and voice, video and data communications hardware and software. CENTECH Group, Inc. of Arlington, Virginia, a member of the NETCENTS "small business" team, selected Harris to provide systems integration and communications development expertise. General Dynamics of Needham Heights, Massachusetts selected Harris to lead RF systems and network development efforts as part of the "large business" team. "Harris is pleased to be selected for both the small- and large-business team solutions for the Air Force's NETCENTS program," said Dan Pearson, president of the Department of Defense (DoD) Programs business unit of Harris Corporation's Government Communications Systems Division (GCSD). "Harris is a longtime leader in RF communications solutions and systems integration expertise for the DoD, and we are thrilled to be able to bring both capabilities together to create winning NETCENTS solutions." In addition to the systems integration and RF work for both teams, Harris also is providing various commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) solutions for IT, networking telephony and security, and voice, video and data communications that will be instrumental in helping the NETCENTS program satisfy the Air Force's requirements for the emerging Global Information Grid (GIG). The NETCENTS program was awarded to a total of eight firms falling into either the small- or large-businesses category. In addition to General Dynamics, other members of the large-business team include Booz Allen Hamilton of McLean, Virginia; Lockheed Martin Corporation of Manassas, Virginia; and Northrop Grumman Information Technology of Herndon, Virginia. The small- business team members, in addition to CENTECH, are Multimax, Inc. of Largo, Maryland; NCI Information Systems Inc. of Reston, Virginia; and Telos Corporation of Ashburn, Virginia. Harris GCSD, one of four divisions within Harris Corporation, conducts advanced research studies, develops prototypes, and produces and supports state-of-the-art, assured communications(TM) solutions and information systems that solve the mission-critical challenges of its military and government customers, while serving as the technology base for the company's diverse commercial businesses.
