AET Aetna Inc. (delisted)

Aetna Inc.'s (AET) third-quarter profit rose 19% from a year earlier to $1 billion, or $3.03 a share. Excluding one-time items, Aetna earned $2.96 a share.

Analysts polled by Refinitiv expected adjusted earnings of $2.83 a share.

Aetna's medical membership as of Sept. 30 was 22.15 million, compared with 22.08 million as of June 30 and 22.17 million a year earlier.

Revenue rose 3% from a year earlier to $15.48 billion. Analysts expected $15.29 billion.

The U.S. Justice Department cleared CVS Health Corp.'s acquisition of Aetna earlier this month after the companies took steps to ease regulators' concerns about the transaction.
