UMB has become Sprint Center's first "Founding Partner," it was
announced today by representatives of both organizations at the
bank's downtown headquarters. As a "Founding Partner," UMB will
receive category exclusivity at the $275 million state-of-the-art
downtown sports and entertainment arena now under construction.
Named the "Official Bank of Sprint Center," UMB will also receive a
sponsorship, advertising and promotional package which will include
permanent signage on the venue's exterior freeway marquees, along
the main concourse and in-bowl fascias; the opportunity to locate
UMB automatic teller machines inside and outside the arena; the
development of messages, features and logo representation on arena
video screens and Sprint Center TV network; and a location within
Sprint Center to open a banking service center to serve guests
attending events. "As the first founding partner of the Sprint
Center, UMB is excited and pleased to enter into this relationship
to demonstrate our continued commitment to the revitalization of
downtown Kansas City," said Mariner Kemper, chairman and CEO of UMB
Financial Corporation. "The Sprint Center is a first-class facility
that people from all across the Midwest will come to enjoy and as
Kansas City's hometown bank, UMB is proud to deliver our support."
Additionally, UMB will "name" Sprint Center's UMB Chairman's Club
room and the UMB Bank Conference Room while receiving recognition
in Sprint Center's suite-holder orientation kit, banner advertising
on the arena's website, initial rights to sponsor certain events
coming to Sprint Center and the opportunity to use Sprint Center
for "private" UMB customer and/or employee functions. "We are
thrilled to announce that UMB, a locally based financial
organization with significant ties and investment throughout the
region, will be Sprint Center's first Founding Partner," said Mark
Faber, Sprint Center's senior vice president, business operations.
"As is the case for all of our Founding Partnership agreements, the
UMB sponsorship package has been customized to include particular
components enabling them to target guests of Sprint Center within
specific demographics." No other details of the multi-year
agreement were released. A total of 12 corporations will be
designated as Sprint Center Founding Partners, all receiving
specific category exclusivity, permanent signage, premium seating
components, and the opportunity to "brand" certain Sprint Center
components, locations and hospitality zones. "On behalf of Sprint
Center, AEG and our naming rights partner Sprint, I would like to
welcome UMB to our 'family' here at Sprint Center," said Brenda
Tinnen, general manager, Sprint Center. "It is only appropriate
that an organization so respected as leaders in our state and our
community become an early partner at Sprint Center which will
become a landmark for our region when we open next year. I thank
UMB Chairman and CEO Mariner Kemper for the faith and trust he has
in our vision for Sprint Center and commit to him and the thousands
of UMB employees and customers that we will make you as proud of
your association with Sprint Center as we are to be associated with
UMB." About UMB UMB Financial Corporation (NASDAQ:UMBF) is a
