Responding to a request by nine members of Congress who
requested the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the Federal
Trade Commission investigate the company, SmileDirectClub said the
effort reflects anti-competitive publicity tactics. "NBC Stands by
Story After SmileDirectClub Rebuke," at 9:55 a.m. ET on Feb. 14,
2020, and "SmileDirectClub Deems NBC News Coverage a
'Misrepresentation,'" at 9:05 a.m. ET on Feb. 14, 2020, incorrectly
referred to the agency as the Federal Drug Administration based on
the company's press release.
