MoSys (NASDAQ: MOSY), a provider of semiconductor solutions that enable fast, intelligent data access for cloud networking, security, test and video systems, today announced that Michael Miller has been appointed as its Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Miller has served as the company’s vice president of technology innovation and system applications since 2010, and holds over 45 patents, including the initial patent defining the industry-standard JTAG interface.

“Michael has been a key member of the executive team and the driver of our Accelerator Engine product roadmap. Our Accelerator Engine products embed in-memory function capability into our serial high-speed memory architectures. While our Bandwidth Engine® products support high-speed memory access, our Programmable Hyperspeed™ Engine products support software in-memory compute functions and solutions,” said Dan Lewis, CEO and president of MoSys. “Under Michael’s leadership, MoSys will be focusing on the development of software products that are firmware-based, silicon-enabled and utilize unique algorithms and high-throughput random-access memory.”

MoSys has traditionally focused on silicon component sales of high-speed serial-attached memory for networking, security and other applications. Building on the numerous Bandwidth Engine product design wins achieved in applications requiring high-performance memory, the company has begun developing customized software solutions for its Programmable Hyperspeed Engine to target a growing array of applications that benefit from both on-chip processing and memory access performance. The company’s silicon-enabled software solutions will focus on emerging applications utilizing in-memory-compute, machine-learning classification, large signal processing arrays and associative memory clusters. The goal of these development efforts is to provide system architects with software-defined, hardware accelerated solutions.
