Infinera (NASDAQ: INFN) has appointed Dirk Corsus as vice president
of systems engineering to provide further experience and leadership
to the company's systems engineering team. Mr. Corsus brings more
than 20 years of global experience in engineering and product
development, with particular expertise in optical networking and
telecommunications switching environments.
Mr. Corsus spent 23 years with Alcatel and Alcatel Lucent
managing global engineering teams, and has been involved with
product launches including optical, routing, and access products.
He has deep experience with the design and implementation of
carrier-class systems to meet the highest standards of service
providers worldwide. Among his positions at Alcatel, Mr. Corsus
served as Vice President of Engineering and Product Solutions for
the Fiber to the User Group, where he was responsible for the
development and launch of an Ethernet-centric access solution which
rapidly became a market leading business with a worldwide customer
list including many of the world's largest telecom companies.
"Infinera's photonic integration technology has allowed us to
create the densest digital optical transport platform, bringing
significant operating expense savings for our customers while
reducing carbon footprint," Mr. Corsus commented. "Whereas only a
few years ago, systems showed up in the market that moved a few
hundreds of Gigabit of traffic around in each rack, our upcoming
next generation of PIC technology will be designed to scale to
multiple Terabits per rack and enable higher speed interfaces such
as 100 Gigabit Ethernet."
"Dirk is a highly skilled engineering leader and he will help us
accelerate our product development efforts, in our current segments
and new ones," commented Infinera CEO Jagdeep Singh.
The Infinera DTN, the first optical system based on large-scale
photonic integrated circuits, is the leader in the long-haul
optical networking market in North America. Deployed in long-haul
and metro core networks, the Infinera DTN combines high-capacity
DWDM transport, integrated digital bandwidth management, and
GMPLS-powered service intelligence in a single platform.
About Infinera
