--Comcast Corp. (CMCSA) is working to develop a smart-home speaker that will focus on monitoring the health of residents, CNBC reported Tuesday, citing "two people with direct knowledge."

--The device will use ambient sensors to monitor the health metrics of people in the home, and will also be able to detect falls, the report said.

--Comcast intends to offer the device to those with health issues and disabilities, as well as to seniors, the report said.

--Comcast didn't comment, the report said.
