Item 8.01.      Other Events.

On August 5, 2019, the Board of Directors (the “Board”) of Acacia Research Corporation (the “Company”) approved a stock repurchase program authorizing the Company to purchase up to an aggregate of $10 million of the Company’s common stock in accordance with Rule 10b-18 of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, as amended. The shares may be purchased through open market purchases, through block trades, through 10b5-1 plans, or by means of private purchases, from time to time, through July 31, 2020. Purchases will be at times and in amounts as management deems appropriate, subject to approval by the Investment Committee of the Board, based on factors such as market conditions, legal requirements and other business considerations.
