Kitty Hawk Adds Key Managers for Business Development, Human Resources

Kitty Hawk, Inc. (AMEX:KHK) announced today that it has hired
Donald A. Premel as managing director of business development, a
newly-created position, and Randy P. Smith as managing director of
team resources. Smith replaces Kim Wiemuth, who recently accepted a
position as president of a hospitality company. "Don and Randy
possess the right combination of strategic thinking, senior-level
leadership experience and industry savvy we need to take Kitty Hawk
to the next level," said Robert W. Zoller, president and chief
executive officer. "Don will oversee the development of new,
commercially relevant products and services as we further
strengthen our competitive position in the global air freight
market. Randy will play a key role on our strategic planning team
as we face important issues such as organizational development,

Hawk, Premel had served since 1973 as a director for Continental
Airlines' Americas division overseeing its cargo sales and
operations. He was responsible for developing numerous innovative
cargo strategies as well as directing sales and service personnel
in 17 countries throughout North and South America. Prior to that,
Premel served as a director for Continental's express products
where he developed and managed Continental's Global Alliance
Partnership Program with a variety of freight forwarders and
logistic companies. Smith previously served for eight years in
several roles at CompUSA, most recently as vice president of human
resources. Smith oversaw strategic planning, change management,
executive and organizational development, training, internal
communications, regulatory compliance, diversity and mergers and
acquisitions. Prior to CompUSA, Smith held various human resources
positions with companies in Texas, Illinois and Wisconsin. Both
Premel and Smith will report to Steve Markhoff, vice president of
