Walmart Inc. will build a distribution center for groceries in Spartanburg County, S.C., the retail giant said Tuesday.

The more than 720,000-square-foot facility will open in 2024, Walmart said. At the site, staff will work with robots and other technology to process groceries for delivery to nearby stores.

The project will create more than 400 full-time jobs, Walmart said.

In South Carolina, Walmart already has four distribution centers, 122 stores and more than 34,000 workers. Spartanburg County lies along the state line with North Carolina about 50 miles west of Charlotte.
