Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc. plans to introduce branded credit cards and prepaid debit cards.

The cards will use the Mastercard Inc. network, and the credit card will be issued by Synchrony Financial, the three companies said Wednesday. Walgreens will incorporate the cards into its customer-loyalty program, myWalgreens, which launched in November.

The credit card will also include a wider range of benefits through Synchrony and Mastercard when used with other merchants. Cardholders will get accelerated rewards when using the credit card for health and wellness purchases. The credit card will be available in the second half of the year.
