Czech car manufacturer Skoda Auto said Thursday that it will re-enter the Sri Lankan market after 17 years as part of parent company Volkswagen AG's international expansion strategy.

Skoda, which is fully owned by Volkswagen, plans to open a showroom in Colombo in May with four vehicles.

The move complements Volkswagen's India strategy, which has enabled Skoda to develop vehicles for both Indian and Sri Lankan customers.

Skoda will be collaborating with IWS Automobiles as an importer and trading partner.
