The American depository receipts of Sweden's Telefon AB L.M. Ericsson (ERIC) are trading lower on Nasdaq Friday, following the release of its fourth-quarter and full-year 2019 earnings.

At 12:21 p.m. EST, the company's ADRs had fallen 6.68% to trade at $8.38. Volume topped 20 million shares, above the 65-day average volume of just under 5 million.

Before the bell Friday, Ericsson reported sales growth, adjusted for comparable units and currency, rose 1% in the quarter. "A reduction in North America was compensated by growth in other markets, primarily in the Middle East and North East Asia," the company said.

The company also said its operating income was "impacted by increased operating expenses."
