Valero Energy Corp. (VLO) Thursday said it named Chief Operating Officer Lane Riggs to the additional post of president.

Joe Gorder continues as chairman and chief executive of the San Antonio, Texas, maker of transportation fuels and petrochemical products.

Mr. Riggs, who had been executive vice president and chief operating officer, has been with Valero since 1989.

Valero also said it named Eric Mullins a director, expanding the board to 11 members, 10 of whom are independent. Mr. Mullins is managing director and co-chief executive of Lime Rock Resources.
