Shares of Newmont Goldcorp Corp. (NEM) fell 4.8% to $37.02 after the company on Tuesday posted lower-than-expected adjusted profit and slightly lowered its 2019 gold-production outlook.

The Denver-based mining company posted adjusted earnings of 36 cents a share, compared with 33 cents a share in the prior year. Analysts polled by FactSet were looking for 39 cents a share.

Newmont now expects production of 6.3 million ounces in 2019, down from its previous forecast of 6.5 million ounces.
