BNP Paribas SA (BNP.FR) said Friday that it has appointed a head of its new division for private banking-and-wealth management in Italy.

Elena Goitini is the new head of BNL-BNP Paribas private banking & wealth management in Italy, the French bank said as it highlighted the importance of the Italian market which has "the largest concentration of companies in the OECD countries of Europe."

The new division's target is to strengthen the bank's wealth positions in the country with new products and the expansion of digital services, among other means, the bank said.

Ms. Goitini was previously at UniCredit S.p.A. (UCG.MI), where she held key roles in Italy and Central Eastern Europe, BNP Paribas said. The bank said it plans to hire experts and private bankers to support its strategy.
