Humana Inc. (HUM) said Karen DeSalvo has resigned from the
company's board, effective Tuesday.
Dr. DeSalvo resigned to avoid the appearance of any conflict of
interest as she plans to pursue a new executive opportunity, the
company said, adding that her decision wasn't a result of any
disagreement with Humana's management or board.
Dr. DeSalvo served as acting assistant secretary for health at
the Department of Health and Human Services from October 2014 to
January 2017. She currently teaches medicine and population health
at the University of Texas at Austin's Dell Medical School.
She was elected to Humana's board in November 2017.
