Carnival Corp. (CCL) and Carnival PLC (CUK) said Monday Jean-Michel Cousteau and the Ocean Futures Society will offer their expertise on environmental initiatives to the company.

"We enthusiastically welcome the Ocean Futures Society and Jean-Michel's passion and insights to help us strengthen our efforts, along with the support of our employees and guests," said Roger Frizzell, chief communications officer for Carnival Corp.

Carnival recently said the company and its nine cruise lines are working to eliminate the use of single-use plastics or decorative items in staterooms and food service. Carnival also said it will reduce the purchase and use of non-essential single-use plastics by the end of 2021.

"We look forward to working with Carnival Corporation to further enhance its environmental initiatives, and we commend the company's long-term commitment to environmental stewardship and excellence," Mr. Cousteau said.
