Same-store sales at Costco Wholesale Corp. (COST) rose 5.4% in the five-week period that ended July 7 to $14.57 billion.

Excluding the effects of gasoline prices, currency fluctuations and an accounting change, Issaquah, Wash.-based Costco said Wednesday that same-store sales increased 5.1% in the period.

For the 44-week period that ended July 7, Costco recorded sales of $126.13 billion, up 8 percent versus the comparable timeframe last year.

Costco currently operates 776 warehouse stores, 539 of which are located in the U.S.

U.S. same-store sales after adjustments were up 5.3% in the five-week period that ended July 7, the company said.

Total company e-commerce same-store sales rose about 21% in the period, after adjustments.
