The U.K. Competition and Markets Authority said Wednesday that
Apple Inc. (AAPL) has pledged to be clearer and more upfront with
users of its iPhone smartphones about battery health and
performance.
The U.K. regulator said Apple will now be bound by formal
undertakings it has signed up to with the CMA. If the U.S. tech
giant breaches any of the commitments made, the CMA may take action
through the courts, the regulator said.
Apple's commitments follow concerns raised by the CMA last year,
after it found consumers weren't being warned that their phone's
performance could slow down after a software update and weren't
able to get information about the health of their phone's
battery.
