Infratil Ltd. said Friday it was confirming that the company and another party are discussing a possible acquisition of Vodafone New Zealand from Vodafone Group PLC (VOD).

Infratil said it made the announcement "following recent media speculation."

Infratil said discussions with Vodafone and financiers are ongoing and might not result in a transaction.

NZX said, at the request of the company, a trading halt had been placed on Infratil's shares and debt securities until an announcement was made in relation to a possible transaction, or until the opening of the market on May 14.
