Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria, S.A., or BBVA (BBVA), on Wednesday said it will unify its brand across the globe and is introducing a new logo to reflect the change.

BBVA plans to discontinue using local names. This will affect the bank's operations in Argentina, where it uses the Francés brand, in Mexico, where it operates as Bancomer, in Peru, where it uses the Continental brand, and in the United States, where it operates as Compass.

Garanti, the Group's franchise in Turkey, will change its name to Garanti BBVA, the bank said.

BBVA Chief Executive Onur Genç said "We are unifying our name, alongside a change in the BBVA logo, to better convey our increasingly digital and global reality."

Javier Rodríguez Soler, BBVA Compass president and CEO, said U.S. customers should expect to see the change, first as the new logo is placed on buildings, materials and digital offerings, and then through the products and services the bank offers.
