Safran SA (SAF.FR) said Tuesday that it has acquired a stake in lithium-sulfur battery specialist OXIS Energy as it explores hybrid and electric-propulsion technology for aircraft.

Safran's stake acquisition is part of a 7 million pound-new fund raising ($9 million) by OXIS Energy, the French aerospace company said.

Chemical company Arkema and Samsung Ventures are among the other investors in OXIS Energy, it said.
