The Dayton Power and Light Company (DP&L), a subsidiary of The AES Corporation (NYSE: AES), begins the fourth year of the Gift of Power assistance program to help local families struggling to pay their winter heating bills. DP&L is contributing $165,000 to support needy families in greater Dayton and throughout our 24-county service territory. Our contribution along with generous donations from DP&L customers and our employees keeps the power on, preventing disconnection for families and neighbors here in the Miami Valley. All donations are administered by The Salvation Army and every dollar stays local.

With contributions totaling $345,000 since the program launch, the DP&L Gift of Power program has provided relief to more than 1,500 local families facing financial crisis in paying their winter heating bill. “For DP&L, being a good community partner is who we are, and we recognize the winter months in Ohio can be challenging. Through the Gift of Power, we can lend a helping hand to those who need it the most, avoiding the difficult choice between a warm home and other necessities. Thank you to our employees, customers, and community, as we help our neighbors on a path back to self-sufficiency,” said Craig Jackson, DP&L President and CEO.

The Gift of Power program helps DP&L customers who have recently suffered a financial hardship, such as the loss of a spouse, loss of a job or major medical bills, but are just above the income guidelines for other Ohio Energy Assistance programs. The distribution of program funds begins the day after Martin Luther King Jr. Day (January 22, 2019) and runs through April 15, 2019 or until funds are exhausted.

During the months of November and December, DP&L customers will have the opportunity to help needy families by completing the special donation envelope in their monthly bill, or to donate online, visit dpandl.com/gift.
