Ford Motor Co. (F) plans to halt car production at its Almussafes plant for nine days over the next three months to adjust for lower demand, a company spokesman said Tuesday.

The U.S. car maker said it will also halt engine production at the site for 13 days over the November-to-January period. Some of the engines produced at the plant are shipped to Canada for assembly of Ford cars.

The plant is near the city of Valencia and employs about 7,500 people.
