--Intel said Sohail Ahmed, who was co-leader of the company's manufacturing group since 2016, will retire next month, and the company intends to reorganize the division into three separate units, The Oregonian reported Wednesday.

--The move comes as the company's manufacturing operation has fallen behind on production of their next-generation 10-nanometer chip, the report said.

--Intel intends to split its manufacturing operations into a technology-development unit, a manufacturing and operations unit and a supply-chain unit, the report said.
