British American Tobacco PLC (BATS.LN) said Tuesday that it has nominated Jack Bowles to succeed current Chief Executive Nicandro Durante, who is due to retire April 1, 2019.

Mr. Bowles will join the board on Jan. 1, 2019, British American Tobacco said.

Mr. Bowles is chief operating officer of British American Tobacco's international business. He joined the company in 2004 as chief executive of BAT France, the company said.
