SAN JOSE, Calif., Sept. 17, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Integrated
Device Technology, Inc. (IDT) (NASDAQ: IDTI), today announced
that its start-of-the-art, high efficiency wireless power
technology is at the heart of Samsung's new Duo wireless charger
pad, the first capable of fast charging two Samsung smartphones
simultaneously. The Duo was recently introduced as part of
Samsung's launch of its new Galaxy Note9 smartphone and Galaxy
smartwatch, which the Duo can charge simultaneously. The Duo can
also charge any other smartphone certified to the Wireless Power
Consortium's (WPC) popular Qi® charging protocol.
"Samsung's new Duo charger is another example of the company
bringing truly innovative products to market that set new standards
for performance, convenience and elegance," said Chris Stephens, vice president and general
manager of IDT's Wireless Power Division. "We are proud to be
associated with the Duo, which combines an innovative coil
structure and IDT's latest wireless charging technology."
The Duo provides the fastest charging times available for the
Galaxy S9, Note9 and other Samsung smartphones with up to 7.5W of
power. It can also charge any Qi-certified device in its baseline
power mode.
The Duo utilizes an IDT® advanced wireless power transmitter
(Tx), a highly-integrated, single-chip IC based on an
industry-leading 32-bit ARM® Cortex®-M0 processor and supports the
latest WPC Qi specifications. This Tx is complemented by IDT's
wireless power receiver (Rx), which is used in most smartphones
from Samsung and other top manufacturers. Like the Tx, the Rx a
single-chip IC that is highly integrated, based on a 32-bit ARM
Cortex-M0 processor and is designed to meet the latest Qi
specifications.
IDT is the global leader in wireless power solutions for both
the Rx used in smartphones and other applications, as well as the
Tx used in charging pads and automotive in-car applications. To
