Volkswagen AG's (VOW.XE) supervisory board has named Stefan Sommer to its management board as head of procurement, the company said late Monday.

Mr. Sommer, who was previously chief executive of automotive parts supplier ZF Friedrichshafen AG, will take up his new post on Jan. 1, 2019, Volkswagen said.

Mr. Sommer succeeds Javier Garcia Sanz, who left the company voluntarily in April.
