UPS (NYSE:UPS) today announced the company has been named to Corporate Responsibility (CR) Magazine’s annual list of the “100 Best Corporate Citizens.” The program recognizes the standout environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance of Russell 1000 companies across the United States and looks at seven categories: environment, climate change, employee relations, human rights, governance, finance, and philanthropy & community support.

This marks the ninth straight year UPS has appeared on the list. CR Magazine specifically recognized UPS’s sustainability efforts, ranking the company 17 in the Climate Change category and 13 in the Environment category, which together compose more than one-third of the scoring criteria.

This recognition comes on the heels of UPS’s 2017 announcement of aggressive new sustainability goals. The goals include adding more alternative fuel and advanced technology vehicles to the UPS fleet currently at approximately 9,100 specialized vehicles while increasing the company’s reliance on renewable energy sources. These goals support UPS’s commitment to reduce its absolute greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from global ground operations 12 percent by 2025.

“Through our ongoing sustainability efforts, UPS aims to continuously improve the communities in which UPS employees live and work,” said Tamara Baker, UPS’s chief sustainability officer and vice president of Environmental Affairs. “We are honored to be recognized by CR Magazine as a social responsibility leader along with so many other outstanding organizations.”

CR Magazine partners with the Corporate Responsibility Association (CRA) to compile its annual “100 Best Corporate Citizens” list, evaluating publicly available information from eligible companies across more than 300 performance measure and disclosure data criteria.
