The makers of the No. 1 imported beer in the U.S. for 20 years and
the No. 1 imported light beer for more than a decade, announced the
national roll out of Corona Premier, a smooth, perfectly balanced
lager with only 90 calories and 2.6g carbs. The innovation is
the first for the brand in 29 years and will be available
nationwide this month.
“Corona is a brand that consumers have loved for more than three
decades in America, and we’re excited to add a new brand to our
family,” said John Alvarado, vice president of marketing, Corona.
“Corona Premier offers the light beer experience men 35 plus have
been waiting for. These guys have upgraded just about every brand
in their life since college – now it’s time to upgrade their beer,
too.”
Males 35 and older, make up 43 percent of the light beer segment
and represent 54 percent of the U.S. light beer volume.1
Corona Premier joins the Corona portfolio after a successful
test launch last spring, validating both the interest in a light
beer alternative for men and the unique role this brand will play
in their lives. Leveraging Corona’s strong brand equity in premium
refreshment and imported quality, Corona Premier focuses on a
mature, sophisticated consumer looking for better-for-you light
beer options.
To celebrate the national launch and engage with target
consumers during one of their favorite sports, Corona Premier will
participate in several golf events this spring and summer. The
brand will be the broadcast sponsor of the U.S. Open of Golf and
the British Open, and will serve as a title sponsor of the American
Century Golf Tournament. Corona will support the launch, the
brand’s biggest ever, through TV, digital, out-of-home, social
media and public relations.

family, visit CoronaUsa.com. As always, Corona encourages consumers
to enjoy its products and relax responsibly.
About the Corona Brand Family
The Corona brand family is home to Corona Extra, Corona Light,
Corona Familiar and in 2018, the national launch of Corona
Premier.
Corona Extra is a pilsner-style lager with a golden hue that was
first brewed in Mexico in 1925. The refreshing flavor and carefree
attitude of Corona have made it the #1 imported beer in the U.S.
for more than 20 years, the #5 beer brand overall, and has been
helping Americans find their beach since 1981.
Corona Light – The Light Cerveza ® and #1 light import in the
U.S. for more than a decade – is a pilsner-style lager brewed for
outstanding light flavor with a fruity-honey aroma and distinctive
hop flavor for a clean finish at only 99 calories.
Corona Familiar is a full-flavored lager with a bright, crisp
taste that taps into consumers’ tradition of sharing this brand
with family and friends. Originally only available in a 32 oz.
bottle perfect for sharing, in 2017 Corona Familiar was introduced
to the U.S. market in 12 oz. bottles.
Corona Premier is a smooth, perfectly balanced lager that’s low
in carbs and low in calories for a mature, sophisticated consumer.
With only 2.6g of carbs and 90 calories, Corona Premier is perfect
for entertaining friends and family, a day out on the golf course
or a reward after a day well-lived.
2017 was a record-breaking sales year for the Corona family. The
entire Corona portfolio is brewed in Mexico by Constellation Brands
and imported and marketed exclusively to the U.S. by the
company.
