Corning cited for commitment to
advanced material science and superior technical
support
CORNING, N.Y.; FEBRUARY 12, 2018- Corning
Incorporated (NYSE: GLW) announced today that its Environmental
Technologies business recently received the Cummins' new product
development award for providing strong technical support, excellent
product performance, and on-time product supply with no delays for
its emissions-control solutions.
The biennial supplier conference was held in Wuxi,
China, and was attended by more than 250 suppliers, with awards in
nine different categories going to 32 winners. Corning, the only
substrate and coating supplier in the group, received the new
product development award along with three other companies. The
award is an important recognition to Corning's local and global
teams supporting the Chinese market.
"Corning did a great job supplying a
high-performance product with competitive cost and design for the
China market," said Yongquan Chai, general manager, Cummins
Emission Solutions (China) Co., Ltd.
The new product development award recognizes
Corning's expertise in extrusion technology with robust technical
and design-in support. Specifically highlighted was Corning's
commitment to advanced material science to reduce emissions and
superior technical support.
"We're incredibly proud of the cooperation between
Corning and Cummins, and all the work done together to earn this
award," said Zhongxuan Wang, commercial director, Corning
Environmental Technologies, China. "This award demonstrates
Corning's ability to leverage our core capabilities to solve
customers' unique challenges, in this case the need for advanced
technical knowledge and design-in support."
Corning is a leading supplier of advanced
cellular ceramic substrates and ceramic particulate
filters for emissions control to the world's major manufacturers of
gasoline and diesel vehicles, such as Cummins Inc. Corning invented
an economical, high-performance, cellular ceramic substrate in the
early 1970s that is now the standard for catalytic converters
worldwide. In 1978, Corning developed the cellular ceramic
particulate filter to remove soot from diesel emissions. Corning
continues to leverage its expertise in ceramic science and
extrusion manufacturing technology to develop market-leading
emissions-control solutions that help our customers meet new
emission standards and enable cleaner air worldwide.
