CORNING, N.Y., OCTOBER 26, 2017 - Corning
Incorporated (NYSE: GLW) announced today that its innovative
optical communications products and solutions recently received six
awards in markets in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, the Asia
Pacific region, and North America.
In Asia, Corning took top honors in two categories
in the NetworkWorld Asia 2017 Readers' Choice/Rising Star Awards.
The Optical Network Solution category recognizes network solutions
employing fiber optics. The second award recognizes Corning as a
"rising star" in data center infrastructure solutions.
The two awards are based on votes from readers of
NetworkWorld Asia, Asia Cloud Forum, Security Asia, and Storage
Asia. Criteria include a company's reputation in the marketplace,
widespread acceptance of its technology, and user feedback on the
company's solutions and their deployment.
"Our readers have high expectations for
performance, efficiency, and value in networking solutions," said
Victor Ng, enterprise group editorial director of Questex Asia,
publisher of NetworkWorld Asia. "These Readers' Choice Awards
attest to Corning's growing reputation in Asia and the Pacific as a
leader in fiber optic innovation and a first-class provider of data
center infrastructure solutions."
In Europe, Corning recently claimed top honors in
the Data Center Leader category at the IT Future Awards in Warsaw,
Poland. That award recognizes Corning's EDGE8(TM) data
center solution, the industry's first tip-to-tip, preterminated
optical cabling systems designed for data centers employing a
future-ready Base-8 design. Finalists for the competition were
chosen by a public online vote, then winners were determined by a
panel of senior IT leaders in the fields of banking and
industry.
The awards in Europe and Asia follow three
gold-level awards Corning received in the United States in
September from the Cabling Installation and Maintenance Innovators
Award Program. Those awards, announced at the fall conference of
the Building Industry Consulting Service International in Las
Vegas, recognized three of Corning's innovative products. Corning's
EDGE8(TM) solution,
ALTOS® cable with
binderless FastAccess® technology,
and ALTOS Lite(TM) cable with
FastAccess® technology
were recognized by a judging panel consisting of cabling and
communications system specifiers, designers, integrators, and
managers with extensive professional experience.
"Winning these awards in Asia and Europe, as well
as North America, validates the reputation for quality and value
that our products enjoy around the globe," said Kim Hartwell,
senior vice president and chief commercial officer for Corning
Optical Communications. "We're pleased that customers and industry
experts are finding value in our EDGE8(TM) solution,
which fills a need for highly efficient, forward-looking
infrastructures with emphasis on total cost of ownership. Its
success grows out of our ongoing collaboration with customers all
over the world."
