Health Systems Switching to Nuance to Improve Radiology Reporting, Analysis and Image Sharing
August 17 2017 - 8:00AM
Nuance Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ:NUAN) today announced that nine
U.S. healthcare organizations have recently chosen Nuance solutions
to replace incumbent radiology solutions to facilitate more
effective collaboration and deliver more complete, timely and
higher quality reporting. In addition to best-in-class reporting,
Nuance’s solutions feature image exchange, workflow orchestration
and advanced analytics capabilities that allow physicians to
analyze reports and mine data to gain new insights and make
decisions more efficiently.
Capital Health, City of Hope, Community Hospital of the Monterey
Peninsula, Desert Radiology, LRGHealthcare, Medical University of
South Carolina, Northeast Georgia Health System, Orion/Tower
Imaging and Tennova Healthcare are representative organizations
that have recently chosen Nuance to replace existing radiology
solutions with Nuance’s advanced diagnostic solutions, medical
imaging exchange capabilities and clinical analytics to facilitate
the transition to value‑based care.
Coordinated Care Health Network (CCHN), Oklahoma’s largest
health information exchange (HIE) and a Nuance partner, is an
example of how Nuance cloud-based technology can drive patient,
clinical and economic outcomes. CCHN sought to disrupt the current
HIE industry by providing its 150 subscribing members with more
than just the ability to exchange data/images – they wanted to
improve awareness across different care locations. With Nuance,
clinicians can obtain greater insights into patients’ imaging
history, automatically serve up timely, patient-specific
information through AI innovation, to make more appropriate
clinical decisions. With Nuance PowerShare at the foundation –
organizations in the CCHN HIE are now realizing up to 80% savings
over previous costs for sharing data across the HIE, while
significantly improving care decisions, workflow and
productivity.
“At a time when there is mounting industry pressure to prove
value and increase efficiency, Nuance’s suite of solutions enables
our radiologists to simultaneously enhance patient care, manage
their workload and meet documentation requirements. In fact, we
chose Nuance PowerShare because of its proven track record to
immediately deliver time and value back to our clinicians,” said
Dr. Brian Yeaman, chief executive and co-founder of CCHN. “Nuance’s
medical imaging solutions have helped us rewrite the playbook on
information sharing among member organizations. The sophisticated
integration capabilities and practical ease-of-use features allow
our providers to devote more time to their primary mission –
patient care.”
Nuance diagnostic solutions empower healthcare providers to
collaborate and deliver complete and timely quality data reporting,
diagnostic reports and medical imaging exchange. These innovations

are using Nuance's clinical documentation solutions.
“We’re proud to offer these organizations the innovative
technology solutions needed to meet the ever-changing demands of
the new healthcare landscape,” said Karen Holzberger, vice
president and general manager of Nuance’s diagnostic
solutions. "Health systems with the most efficient, modern
tools available are far better equipped to deliver high quality,
personalized patient care. We intend to support these organizations
in every way possible by continuing to enhance our core radiology
